When I first began writing the song, (I) DIDN'T WANT TO (BUT I) HAD TO the opening lyrics were,
"I love to listen to you sing Frereajaqua"
Early on I changed it to say,
"I love to listen to you sing Kumbaya"
By this point noone had sung "Kumbaya" to me, or "Frereajaqua" for that matter, despite what the lyrics suggested.
I asked Emile if he would sing "Kumbaya" so that 1. this Cd could have a theme and 2. the lyrics could actually be true. He agreed. Having not heard the song before, he composed his own wonderful version of the chords and melody. I composed additional words and a B Section of music in order to add a bit of Glam Rock to this enduring camp fire classic.
